Extraordinary aroma, vigour, resinous buds… These are just some of the traits that have turned a large number of growers around the world into devoted followers of Dinafem's Santa Sativa, a strain that results from paring powerful Haze#1 with the cross between a Skunk and Northern Lights. Extremely stable and with great end flavour and aromas, this seed leaves no one indifferent.

Those who have already grown her agree she is a super easy strain and enjoy watching her develop her Sativa traits: plenty of stretching branches with tight internodes that are home to elongated, trichome-laden buds that fill the grow room with delicious, pungent aromas. This was one of the first strains in Dinafem's catalogue and still is one of our favourites. Find out why in the next video:

Should you dare to grow her?

This is not our appraisal; it is the appraisal of the growers – beginners and connoisseurs – who have tried this seed by Dinafem. "I grew her last year and she did rather well, she yields beautiful, resinous buds and is rather productive," says one of them. Others can barely suppress their excitement: "What a massive plant, she is over three metres already, she's going to outgrow the space and is full of thick, sticky buds," says another.

Santa Sativa is really easy to grow. As pointed out by some of the growers and as is the case for other strains by Dinafem such as Moby Dick, the key factor here is bearing in mind that she needs lots of space to grow. In fact, Santa Sativa is considered to be Moby Dick's Sativa cousin, as she is just as demanding in terms of lighting and feeding. In expert hands and if provided with all the nutrients she needs, she can reach 4.5 metres in height and produce the amazing amount of 1,300 grams of top quality cannabis per plant, so try not to hinder her development so that she can reach full potential.

Tip → For optimum results, feed the plant high amounts of nutrients.

Hard, compact buds

As mentioned above, and despite the fact she stretches quite too much in search of light, Santa Sativa's sturdy branches are perfectly capable of bearing the hard buds she rewards you with at the end of flowering. She is ideal for SCROG set-ups and, if grown outdoors, she can be bended over to force her into a more horizontal shape.

You should though curtail your enthusiasm and take your time before harvesting. When grown outdoors in temperate, sunny, Mediterranean climates, harvest time is from late October to early November. Indoors, it grows rather quickly, although her flowering is a bit longer than what is usual, around 70-80 days. Some growers wait even a few extra days in order to increase resin amounts.

Pungent, intoxicating aroma

As the plant grows and the trichome-laden buds start to cover the branches, Santa Sativa fills the lungs with her strong piney and woody aroma with hints of lemon, cedar an incense. Crazy as it may seem, this is just a warm-up and curing enhances this mixture even further, hitting the palate with a unique fragrant flavour with notes of fresh flowers.

Warning: the effect is not for the novice

That said, this strain by Dinafem should be handled with care when it comes to tasting. Being 70% Sativa and 30% Indica, the high is rather euphoric and extremely potent, ruthlessly hitting body and mind. This is why many experienced smokers recommend that beginners start out with softer strains if they don't want to get knocked out with the first puff. If they decide to try it anyway, they will feel how the THC, which can reach up to 20%, gradually reaches the mind with a clear, euphoric high that lingers for a long while, perfect for a cosy chat with friends.

As you can see, Dinafem's Santa Sativa does not fall short of attractions and an increasing number of growers are banking on this hybrid that has become one of the favourites of Sativa lovers and in Dinafem's catalogue.
