The 2016 ExpoCáñamo Is Coming. Let’s All Go to Seville!

  • Seville has a special feel about it indeed, however during the 13, 14 and 15 May it will be all about loving green as it hosts the 2nd edition of the cannabis fair “ExpoCáñamo” (HempExpo). A few years ago, we could not even have dreamed about a cannabis showcase like this in the majestic Andalusian city, however times are changing and the cannabis market is a sector that is emerging strongly and making a niche for itself in our society. This project, only two years old, already promises to be an unmissable event for every cannabis lover wanting to experience a few days where fun and information go hand in hand.

The Cartuja Island is the setting that has been chosen to host the international 2016 Seville HempExpo fair, which is emerging as a strong event within the sector and, it aims to be a benchmark for anyone interested in the subject of hemp in Spain. It is a tool for disseminating cannabis culture and will take a deeper look at three main issues: industrial hemp, medical cannabis and regulation and the normalisation of use.

The event is divided into two main areas, on one hand it offers a social vision, where the aim is to provide quality information about the use and consumption of cannabis, its uses and also its properties at an industrial and medical level. On the other hand, the event will focus on offering commercial information, as it brings different areas of this sector into contact, and concentrates all of the different options provided by the market into a single enclosed area.

It is an opportunity for growers and consumers that want to find out about the market's current situation, what new features are emerging this year and what the new products are. All of the information that will be offered at this fair is based around scientific studies and will be provided through the accounts of researchers and professionals.

This is an event whose main aim is to offer quality knowledge and spread word about the uses of cannabis in a fun and entertaining way. For that reason, everyone that comes to HempExpo 2016 will be able to acquire knowledge and simultaneously enjoy conferences, workshops, exhibitions and concerts that are programmed over the three days.

What will you find at this fair?

• Conferences

HempExpo has programmed a series of talks where professionals from different fields (researchers, activists, journalists, academics) will offer their knowledge about current issues. We especially want to recommend two of them that you cannot miss out on: those of the Canadian Marc Emery and the one given by the essayist and professor Antonio Escohotado.

At an especially turbulent and complex time for the legal framework around cannabis and its regulation, the event is bringing Marc Emery, one of the leading international figures in favour of cannabis regulation.

For those that do not know him, the Canadian activist is as close as you could get to a character from a novel. An absolutely staunch defender of cannabis legalisation, this gentleman has boldly stood for elections three times in Vancouver, he has founded his own media outlet, opened a rehabilitation clinic that offers alternative therapies and has even been accused by the United States government of conspiring to disseminate cannabis. Nothing less.

Another talk that you cannot afford to miss is the one that will be given on Saturday 14 at 4pm by the professor and essayist Antonio Escohotado. He is a thinker known to the public thanks to his research into the field of drugs and his anti-prohibition ideology. His discourse, quite intense and striking for some, is based around the defence of freedom opposed to the fear and repression that coerce humans and subject them to all kinds of servitude.

Concerts

In this second edition, the Seville HempExpo organisers wanted to opt for local music. The Pavilion of the Future, the enclosure where the event will take place, has an outside area where groups like La Selva del Sur and Scurro & Papa Wilson will add a touch of colour to the events with ethnic and eclectic rhythms.

These are days of fun and cannabis dissemination in the Andalusian capital that have the backing of the previous edition, which was attended by more than 4000 people.

At Dinafem, we did not want to miss out on this interesting fair and we will be there for the first time with our catalogue of CBD rich strains and lots more surprises. We will see you in Seville!
