Dinafem Video: Dinachem, Our Feminized Version of the Legendary ChemDog

  • Since its creation in 1991, the American strain ChemDog has really stood out and shone all over the world.
  • Every year it turns out to be one of the best-selling cannabis seeds, especially in the USA, where this variety has developed a cult following.
  • With a view to reaching out so that everyone can enjoy ChemDog, at Dinafem we present Dinachem, our special tribute to this legendary strain, created in collaboration with the bank responsible for the original.

Thanks to fruitful cooperation with the American breeder ChemDog, at Dinafem we have worked to develop a feminized version of this fabled plant. The result takes the name of Dinachem (reflecting a combination of the two banks) and retains the most coveted qualities of the ChemDog genetic, which has been triumphing on the cannabis market for a quarter century now.

Mostly Sativa (65%), Dinachem is the result of crossing a Guava Chem, a strain with characteristics similar to the original, and an elite ChemDog clone. As you can see from the pictures, this variety develops a plant of average stature that is easy to grow, vigorous and productive, offering tough, compact buds oozing with resin.

The plant features average distances between nodes, which are surrounded by large dark-green leaves that reflect its Indica (35%) component. Not surprisingly, Dinachem was recognised as the best Indica at the 2016 Cannazores Cup, and second best at the 2015 IC 420 Growers Cup.

The origins of this legendary plant are curious. They say that it all goes back to a concert held in the state of Indiana, in the United States. Back in the early 90s a couple of growers ran into an individual known as ChemDog, who sold them grass at a price that, initially, they found outrageous: 500 dollars (about 450 euros) for one ounce of cannabis, or about 30 grams. But they soon verified its value. According to ChemDog himself, whoever smoked this strain felt like they were walking on air, enjoying an immediate sensation of well-being.

The two growers immediately got down to work to produce a good harvest of this strain, which had them spellbound. After considerable efforts to successfully recreate the effects of the original, in 1991 they produced a set of four seeds that, ten years later, was expanded to come up with the definitive clone. Since then ChemDog has become one of the most popular seeds in the US, with a reputation worthy of the highest-quality cannabis.

This strain is also the mother of many of the best-known plants on the market, making possible the creation of important hybrids like Bubba Kush, OG Kush, New York Diesel and the legendary Sour Diesel.

CULTIVATION

Difficulty

Though a strain of extraordinary quality, this does not mean that the most inexperienced growers cannot take a shot at cultivating it. Dinachem generally does not require excessive care, so with a little attention and perseverance you will be able to take full advantage of all of this plant's benefits, even if you are just getting started as a grower.

Suitable for indoor and outdoor growing

Dinachem is flexible, thriving both indoors and out, although it really thrives outdoors. It does very well in Mediterranean or temperate climates, resisting mildew and diseases. If you opt to grow it in your garden it will also give it a touch of exoticism, and certainly stand out above the rest, growing up to three meters high.

If, on other hand, you live in a country with cooler temperatures, don't worry: this strain also does great in greenhouses or closed spaces.

Flowering and harvest

Dinachem will be ready for harvest in a period of eight to nine weeks from its sowing, or an average of 60 to 70 days. But the wait will be worth it: after this period its interior production can reach 450 to 500 grams per square meter, and up to 600 to 800 grams per plant outdoors. If you decide to grow it outdoors, keep in mind that you will have to carry out the long-awaited harvest in mid to late October. You can go ahead and circle those dates on your calendar!

A trick or two

A good way to grow the plant indoors is using the SCROG technique, though it also does just fine with the SOG method. In these ways you will ensure that your Dinachem branches off laterally, creating a kind of "green tide." Outdoors, apical pruning is recommended to reduce the height of these plants because, as mentioned, if planted early in the season they can grow to towering sizes.

Another recommendation has to do with the scent given off by the buds, which is so intense that it can actually penetrate the walls of your home. To prevent neighbours from suspecting that you are growing cannabis, your best bet is to use carbon filters and other anti-odour devices.

Finally, a good tip is to use organic fertilisers to achieve a product of the very highest quality. With them you will enjoy some very clean and exquisite final flavours to delight the palate.

Aroma and flavour

Dinachem retains the gustative qualities of the original ChemDog. Its aroma and taste are powerful, which makes it an irresistible variety for all cannabis lovers. Your senses will revel at the taste of tropical fruits, combined with touches of oil, citrus and exotic woods. A real treat for your taste buds.

Effect

Its effect is powerful, but it won't knock you out. At first its effect is cerebral, euphoric and stimulating, but then it gives way to a state of deep relaxation, ideal to escape from the problems of everyday life for a while. All this, along with a stable and long-lasting potency that will allow you to enjoy a moment of rest without having to worry about adverse side effects.
