A Study Confirms that the CBD in Cannabis Kills Malignant Breast Cancer Cells

  • According to the study the component kills damaged tissue and breaks it down, without affecting healthy material. It also contributes to the generation of new tissue, in perfect condition. Scientists believe this may be the beginning of a whole new field based on medications containing cannabidiol.

The U.S. National Cancer Institute officially recognised that therapeutic cannabis was becoming a very powerful substance in the fight against this disease. The statement came in the wake of numerous similar studies backed by numerous professionals for years. Thanks to them we know that this plant helps patients with anxiety, depression, pain, seizures, arthritis and osteoarthritis.

Now a new study published by the American Association for Cancer Research confirms that CBD kills malignant breast cancer cells. As the authors explain, this represents the second cause of death from tumours in women in the US, and conventional treatments are limited or toxic for patients with these tumours.

In the analyses carried out the researchers found that CBD eliminates these harmful cells without affecting the rest of the breast tissue, unlike treatments such as chemotherapy, which do significant damage to healthy cells, and has significant side effects.

Cannabidiol also leads to malignant cell "suicide" (a form of cell death) by breaking down the old ones and favouring the formation of new, healthy ones. Scientists are confident that these findings may open up a whole new field for the development of potent drugs to treat the disease.
