The next step on autoflowering genetics: Haze Automatic rocks!

  • The process of creating a new autoflowering strain, like the Haze Automatic. In this article you will find out how it was created, the carachteristics of this strain and what was taken into account in order to create a better autoflowering strain, with more aroma, taste and potency.
the next step on autoflowering genetics haze

Looking for an automatic top notch pot strain, sticky, stinky, with peppery haze flavor, and potent as hell?
Are a you a Sativa aficionado wanting to test the best commercial automatic sativa strain ever? Or are you just an old school pot-head and Automatic based crosses sounded to you like a bad joke?
Then we have something breaking into the scene that may be interesting for you!

The work started crossing the original Roadrunner stock –our first generation autoflowering strain, released to the market in early 2009 - with a very psychoactive and tasty Sativa dominant “AAA” selected plant, called JYD Haze, with the specific idea of make a second generation automatic and change the characteristic taste of all the Ruderalis-based automatic or autoflowering genetics. It seems that the Ruderalis lineage include this characteristic taste and the auto or rapid flowering ( without a propper vegetative stage) in the same genetic “pack” or pool. This characteristic taste is “greeny” but also sweety, something like grass or textile-wild Cannabis, something that causes some of the more demanding cultivators -who may be more accustomed to sweeter, more fruity tastes, intense and aromatic to show no interest for the autoflowering genetics.

We tried to increase the difference in taste even further, taking it from the automatic range of flavors to the non-automatic taste group, adding to it the spicy, citric and piney flavor and smell present in the selected Haze we exclusively acquired from the undergroung breeding collective JYD Genetics. JYD’s Haze was achieved through a strict selection process of old-netherlander school Super Silver Haze, an original and unique selection that has been preserved and cared for by this group of cultivators for many years, achieving various prizes in national championships and leaving those who dare to go anywhere near it without the due respect it deserves dangerously knocked out!

What we have achieved with this spicy cross is something worthy of satisfaction: apart from the pungent Haze flavor, the size of the plants has increased, as has its productivity and strength. The resin presence is also more and more abundant, completely covering the petioles and the base of the upper leaves, the production of large glandular trichomes has also heavily increased, both in the buds and the leafy bracts that surround them. is extremely stable and homogeneous; it has more resin, thicker buds and higher productivity. In order to achieve this, it needs about 75 – 80 days to mature completely, that is to say, approximately one week more than previous lineages of automatics.

In the new Haze Automatic we can therefore detect both the standard features of first generation auto-flowering genetics – predominantly Ruderalis- compact and bushy with the characteristic aroma of auto-flowering varieties, and the peculiar aromas of the Haze we have managed to combine it with, lemon and spice with a sweet acidy hint. The result is an improved automatic and feminized top strain with a heavier yield, totally unknown until now in automatic genetics, covered with resin from top to toe. Grow patterns show us the result of an 3ft. average in ideal conditions, and produces impressive compact colas achieving full maturity in only 80 days!!. It doesn’t have the effect of a pure Sativa, although the levels of THC have increased, the levels of CBD remain high due to the automatic genetic pack, making a nice equilibrium and a more relaxing and lasting high.

The best season possible for cultivating these plants outdoors in continental climate, mountain areas or anywhere north of parallel 45º, is the last week of May in a mild year, harvesting around 1 August, or the second week of June when summer arrives late, harvesting the last week of August. In this second case, there is more risk of summer rainfalls in the second half of August, and the intensity of the sun is lower as the summer solstice passes. For this reason, it is recommendable to bring forward the sowing to the end of May, that way harvesting can be carried out when the sun is at its brightest. We recommend clean water flushing for 2 last weeks if you are looking for tasty piney, citric and peppery flavors, also as is well known best quality top-shelf stinky nugs are obtained using organic-bio nutrients, soils, pests, etc… this will give the Haze Automatic colas the best pungent Haze flavor.
