Expoweed, South America's Largest Hemp Fair

  • In just a few days numerous professionals from the industrial and therapeutic hemp spheres will converge in Chile to attend Expoweed, South America's most important fair in the industry. Attendees will be able to enjoy three days of talks, music, and more than 100 stands created to nurture, just a little bit more, their passion for marijuana.

If you are in Santiago de Chile from 21-23 November, or you can get there, don't miss out on the latest edition of Expoweed, South American's largest and most important cannabis fair. The Dinafem team will be there as the main sponsor, sharing our experience (hand to hand with Delaferia, stand 67) in a city that will be transformed into the international capital of the cannabis culture.

What will you be able to find? A whole range of activities designed to share with you everything you need to know about the recreational, medicinal, legal, and political aspects of marijuana, but also a magnificent showcase to appraise the burgeoning status of cannabis in Latin America.

All the activities will take place in O´Higgins Park, where you will be able to visit up to 116 stands staffed by both Chilean and foreign companies, presenting theirlatest developments in the growing of marihuana, and the plant's seeds, distributed across grounds covering 6,000 m2. The event will also bring together important representatives from the hemp industry, as well as stores in the marihuana growing industry, displaying an ample variety of new cannabis-related technologies.

Talks and medicinal marijuana

O´Higgins Parks management will host the fair's centrepiece: the "Medicinal Hemp Forum," which will feature the contributions of notable experts in the field of medicinal cannabis, including Steve Angelo, the owner and director of the largest therapeutic marijuana dispensary (Harborside Health Center) in the U.S.A. He boasts nearly four decades of experience in activism and advocating for responsible regulation.

Rick Simpson, creator of the documentary "Run from the Cure," will also be among the participants. Since 2003, he has treated almost 5,000 people with a range of different pathologies - cancers, diabetes, chronic pain, melanomas and bacterial infections - using marijuana, and reports that 70% of patients who followed his recommendations were cured of cancer by ingesting 60 grams of high-quality cannabis oil.

American activist and president of the Hemp and Cannabis Foundation, Paul Stanford, will also attend. He is currently heading up the campaign for the re-establishment of the use and regulation of industrial hemp in the United States.

Meanwhile, Lester Grinspoon, will provide his medical perspective at the event. A Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Harvard Medical School and founder of both the Annual Review of Psychiatry and the Harvard Mental Health Letter, of which he was the editor-in-chief for 15 years, few figures have ascribed more value to the medicinal use of cannabis as him.

There will also be experts from France, Spain and Uruguay on hand for the event - almost 20 professionals in all. Spain will be represented, firstly, by Rafael Burrial, a chemist and author of the book Cannabis Alquimicum, a manual on the alchemy of hemp that explains the main homemade creations that can be produced with the product.

Also in attendance will be Javier Pedraza. With degrees in Medicine and Surgery, since 1998 he has been studying the therapeutic properties of cannabis, combining his clinical activity with examinations of the plant's medical applications.

Musical space

Over the course of the event attendees will also be able to enjoy musical performances by Electrodomésticos, Astro, AbyaYala, Shamanes, Tiro de Gracia, La Latina Pozze Latina, and Bitman, all of them artists in some way related to the defence of marijuana. Without any doubt, however, the headliner will be Ky-Mani Marley, son of the reggae legend Bob Marley, who will wrap up the set of intense days, with a performance scheduled for Sunday 23 at 6:30 pm.

The fair was designed for the whole family, so the organization has seen to everything, right down to details like special spaces just for children. Leave your children at the Amsterdam Kids Garden and relax during your visit to Expoweed while the kids play and learn about organic vegetables in workshops showing them how to take care of plants and orchards.

Expoweed is the perfect pretext to bring together cannabis lovers from both sides of the Atlantic, to put to them in contact with those who know the most about this industry, and to share experiences in a way that is fun, family-friendly, and educational. At Dinafem we are proud of being a contributor to this major event, which has become a must on our calendar. You can find us at stand 67.
