How do you make sure the seeds you sell are in optimal conditions?
At Dinafem Seeds, we carry out highly meticulous selection, storage and packaging processes that guarantee the quality and the conditions of our seeds:
- Selection: After thoroughly cleaning them and removing any remaining plant debris or other impurities, we select only those seeds that are in optimal conditions.
- Storage: When the selection has been made, we store the seeds in glass containers with some silica gel and a thermo-hygrometer that registers the mix/max values inside so that we can keep track of the temperature and humidity variations within the containers. The silica gel keeps the air inside the jars dry at a relative humidity of 30 %. Those jars are placed in special fridges equipped with a pump for keeping the air dry and prevent the deterioration of the cardboard packs.
- Packaging: The selected seeds are then placed inside Eppendorf tubes or vials –we were in fact the first seed bank to use this cannabis seed packaging method-. Later on, a small piece of polyurethane foam is put inside too in order to separate the seeds from the silica gel. This also helps keep the seeds as dry as possible. The silica gel has a colour-change system thanks to which controlling and regulating the humidity levels is far easier.
