Morphology

Purple Afghan Kush is a true Indica. We could start by describing her appearance to know what to expect when germinating her. We will do it later, though, right after telling you what really matters: she's the most beautiful and mysterious marijuana plant we’ve ever seen. No question about that. Her wide leaves fall wavy from the buds as if caressing the flowers they’re covering. While low leaves stay dark-green during the flowering, the top ones acquire beautiful purple, almost black, hues that make her look surprisingly mysterious and elegant.

Her compact, bushy and mid-sized structure with short branches is perfect for growing in small spaces, but don’t become overconfident because she’s far from discreet. In fact, she’s striking and quickly becomes the queen of the garden. Even if a slim and super-tall Original Amnesia is next to her, our eyes would go straight to the short and fat plant first.

Yield

Purple Afghan Kush delivers incredibly dense and highly resinous buds, in a ratio of 500 g/m2. The amount of resin produced by this strain is also remarkable and of outstanding quality. In fact, as the flowering progresses, all leaves and buds are covered by a thick layer of sticky trichomes. Like this, PAK takes on a majestic white/silvery appearance that contrasts marvellously with her beautiful blue, purple and lavender hues.

Aromas and flavours

After her natural beauty, this is the most surprising and rewarding feature of Purple Afghan Kush. Smelling so fresh and so fruity, we’d feel as if we were holding a pineapple and we sliced it. That’s precisely the scent that PAK gives off. Despite the earthy and spicy aroma of her Kush predecessors, this Afghan strain smells of a tropical cocktail.

Effects

Purple Afghan Kush provides a very nice sensation of relaxation. Her high THC levels don’t provoke an unbearably cerebral effect but they do help alleviate muscle tension. You’re sure to go through a long-lasting physical and cerebral period of peace which is nowhere near mind-blowing. Widely used as therapeutic marijuana.

Cultivation

Purple Afghan Kush is easy to grow. She’s capable of withstanding extremely hot and dry weather conditions without any difficulties. The amount of irrigation water, but not the frequency of the irrigation sessions, should be reduced by 10 % compared to other cannabis plants. Let’s remember that, despite her tropical scent, Purple Afghan Kush has been raised in the Hindu Kush mountains, which is why she can thrive in dry, extreme climates.

However, there is one aspect we have to be very careful with: the vegetative time. Her being so short makes it necessary for her growth period to be a bit longer than usual, so extending it some 20 extra days before the flowering is highly advisable. This means we should wait about a month and a half before the visual show starts, that is, before the 60-day flowering kicks off.

Dinalab Analysis

Cannabinoids

Total amount of cannabinoids*: 22.42%

*Cannabis contains at least 113 cannabinoids, which can be either acidic or neutral. When heated – e.g. through smoking, vaping or cooking – acidic cannabinoids decarboxylate and become neutral. This report refers only to the main cannabinoids – acidic and neutral – in this strain.

Terpenes

Total amount of terpenes*: 3.74%

*Cannabis contains over 100 terpenes. These compounds create the aroma unique to each strain and can interact with cannabinoids. This report refers only to the 15 most abundant terpenes in this strain.

These results have been obtained by liquid chromatography coupled to a UV-visible HPLC Detector (HPLC-UV/VIS) for identifying the cannabinoids and by gas chromatography coupled to a flame ionization detector (GC-FID) for the collection of terpenes. The equipment has been previously calibrated and quality control samples were run to assure the accuracy of the results. The data shown here is the average of samples coming from several plants grown from seeds by different growers.

The data contained within this report was collected in accordance with the requirements defined by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in their Recommended Methods for the Identification and Analysis of Cannabis and Cannabis Products. For the seeds I got: It wasn’t very ‘kush‘ at all. It had an overpowering “grapefruit” flavour. It smelled funky and tasted just funky. I’m not very experienced Grower but it had unwanted flavours.

I live in Canada and buying good quality seeds here is pretty hard to do. I saw a picture of purple Afghan kush from Dinafem and couldn’t resist. I was reluctant to order from Spain but the seeds showed up sooner then I expected! I had sprouts two days later! I was hoping to get a sticker with the order though :(

This strain is by far,the tastiest strain on this catalogue! i love the tropical flavours with a hint of spice when you exhale! not to mention its beauty! I definitely recomend growing indoor as this strain can tend to grow mold easily if not looked after properly outdoors. my overall evaluation is a 9/10 . iv been growing for a while and i definately recomend dinafem to every other seedbank around. cheers hope i was helpful.

Incredibly alluring plants. Turned so purple, it went black. Grew 3 in 2 gallons. Organic living soil. All 3 smells a bit different from one another. The morphology is very consistent tho. One smells like sausages. Somehow the combination of fuel, pineapple and lavender makes a sausage smells. The others are very fruity and they do smell very pineappley. Delicious.
  12. Another high quality strain from Dinafem

I’ve grown to be a big fan of Dinafem. We all work hard for our money and expect quality, well, they deliver. I’ve experimented with their OG Kush strain. Always turns out great. Purple afghan did the trick as well but enjoyed a drier climate. Thanks Dinafem. Cheers to another decade.

  16. Absolutely gorgeous plant in looks & quality !

    5 out of 5
Grew PAK in Rhizo pots, soil & totally Organic. It's a beautiful plant when in flower with lilac/purple colours. After drying it had a very soapy, fruity taste except for one green Pheno which tastes/smells like Pineapple, take cuttings as if you get the green Pheno you'd think it was a different top quality strain. After four months curing the purple just gets even better ! In jars, take off the top & it's so fruity, more like smelling a delicious fruity Jam, no grapefruit taste as described but I think the fruity taste is better, it has a touch of earthiness but a top quality taste/smell, at times when burning the smoke smells just like fine Hash. A fantastic head/body effect, just like good Hash, it really is one of the best balanced strains I've had in years & great for relaxing muscles & chilling without being too much of a couchlock effect. 1 1/4 length papers are more than enough for a joint even for hardened smokers then at night use kingsize & you'll sleep like a baby! Don't be put off by the freshly dried very soapy taste, it's common in Purple Kush strains & Purples in general! It cures out but at the same time if smoked fresh after drying the soapy smrll really grows on you. Top notch strain, highly recommended!
  17. A very nice strain with a amazing "Green Pheno"

    5 out of 5
PAK is a great plant to grow, easy in veg & in flowering by the time the plants are finished mine were a beautiful light shade of Purple with one amazing Green pheno! The high is mellow & great for daytime with the purple plants, though at night smoke a little more & you'll definitely be nicely where you want to be. Purple has a lovely taste of Barry's after a cure, earthy too, actually quite difficult to explain the taste. The Green pheno is amazing, tasting of pineapple/grapefruit/tropical taste, it really is very nice. Take cuts as if you get the green pheno you will def want to save it. Tastes nothing like the purple yields good, smells great &!tastes great. You wouldn't know it was PAK if you didn't know.
  18. Purple Goddess Goodness

What can I say about this wonderful strain that hasn't already been said. It's just fantastic easily the best body high I've ever experienced from cannabis. For such a heavy hitting indica couch lock is non existent. You have to try this one such a fantastic plant slow in veg but explosive in flower production minimal stretch dense rock hard buds this plant means business!

Just finished my first grow with Purple Afghan KushRock hard buds and super frosty, heavy indica stone without couch lock. My new fav plant, I'll be growing this one again.
  22. Resistant to rust spot

    5 out of 5
Small plant, finished well, smells great ......but most importantly for me, it seems resistant to rust spot.
  23. Fantastic strain

    5 out of 5
I've grown 10 of these under 1200w in autopots. The smell approx. 3 weeks in to flower is amazing, the buds give off a lovely fruity smell which is maintained throughout the rest of flowering. 9 out of 10 went a deep, beautiful purple and gives them great 'appeal'. Done in 60 days, it is a really special plant - Strong, tasty and yeild's well to average. Tip: Some leaf drooping is 'normal' - Bubba Kush influence in the strain.
