From 20 to 22 March Barcelona welcomed Spannabis 2015, the hemp fair that, like every year, generated great expectations, which were totally satisfied by the organisation. The event drew over 30,000 participants: national and international experts, scientists, doctors, jurists and users calling for the therapeutic and medicinal use of cannabis

Spannabis has managed to become a useful and fun forum to learn about hemp applications that often go unnoticed. It has also become an event at which to discuss legalisation and responsible consumption, and to publicise marijuana's benefits.

Some patients who medicate themselves with therapeutic marijuana explained to the rest of the attendees how, before beginning consuming the plant they were forced to use extreme substances, including morphine.

When they began to use cannabis as medication their lives became much healthier. Without any doubt, a shining example for those who were not aware of its medical uses, although the researchers who participated in the event wished to underscore that there is still much research to be done to discover all its applications.

The debate on therapeutic marijuana was the centrepiece of the World Cannabis Conferences, held in conjunction with this festival. Their primary goal was to stress the importance of scientific research and get the word out about the advances that take place through the study of this plant.

It was also place which saw representatives of some of Spain's cannabis clubs, on hand to explain their objectives and how they operate, along with recent developments in Spanish politics related to their demands. The fair concluded with a good taste in everyone's mouth, leaving all looking forward to savouring the Malaga edition.
